In this first volume of two, Clare Penne brings us a different twist on her usual stories of female-domination of trans-men set in surroundings of wealth, luxury, and decadence. Though this, of course, does not mean that the main character, Tim – or “Thea”, as he becomes – will be spared either the decadence or the ‘treatment leading to his irrevocable transformation.
In this volume, however, his lover and dominant female partner is much younger than usual – as well as being a brilliant student destined for a sparkling career .in international politics.
The above being similar for “Tim/Thea”, in that he/she is a couple of years younger than her and a possible concert pianist of the future. Good enough, in fact, to win a place at the Royal Academy of Music and – in this first volume – to play Rachmaninoff’s Third concerto with a professional orchestra in the North of England before coming down to London.
The book begins by exploring his earlier life as a rather feminine young teenager and his introduction to sex by his music masters before the main part of the book where, during a gap year between his school and the RAM, he runs into his ‘love-to-be and Domme’ on a St. Ives beach.
A girl that he knew from past holidays, and a girl, he discovers, who has big plans for him that involve him living with her at her apartment in London’s Bloomsbury.
As her girlfriend!
The question being, will he fall into the sexual web she’s designed for him and, if he does, how deep does she intend to enmesh him in its toils?
Volume Two to follow shortly.
