Mr Menton opens with “A Shameful Reversal”, and the tale of an unsuspecting American husband who, after agreeing to accompany his Thai executive wife back to her homeland for a temporary posting – via the promise of his being free to work on his “Great American Novel” while she takes care of business – finds himself falling under the spell of the young Thai maid his wife has employed to take care of him in her absence… Though he soon realises it’s not so much a matter of him “falling” under her spell during his wife’s absences as it is the dominant maid forcing him beneath it… And his wife is not so ignorant of his submission as he thought her to be.

Mr Emerson follows with “Obsessed in Thailand”, in which, after being divorced for cheating, and left with a neck-problem when the husband of the colleague with whom he cheated lays a beating on him, Matt Arondsen finds his life spinning out of control after visiting an Asian massage centre… For the therapists at the centre calling itself “Thailand Bliss” have unusual gifts – and attributes – likely to prove addictive with certain clients… Clients of whom Matt is DEFINITELY one.
